The mission of the Education Foundation of Lower Merion (“EFLM”) is to provide a fundraising vehicle for the entire community’s voluntary support of programs and activities enhancing the educational experience of all Township public school students, consistent with the goals and policies of the Lower Merion School District. The EFLM is a non-profit institution and operates independently from the School District.

The firefighters of the UFA not only selflessly protect the public in times of crisis, but also provide important community outreach. The Bala Cynwyd civic association, known as "The Neighborhood Club of Bala Cynwyd," was established in 1906 and is one of the oldest and most well respected civic groups in eastern Pennsylvania. The civic association regularly monitors commercial development, zoning, education, and quality of life issues in Bala Cynwyd (Montgomery County, PA), and is a frequent presence at state, county and township hearings and meetings.
