Jeff Lindy for Judge

Jeffrey Lindy was a candidate for judge in the November 2009 election for judge of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. The Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas is a trial court that handles criminal and civil cases, as well as cases involving adoption, divorce, child custody, abuse, juvenile delinquency, estates, guardianships, charitable organizations, and other matters.

Lindy received nearly 60,000 votes, coming within approximately 1,500 votes of winning a spot on the bench. In a uniquely large field, 14 candidates ran for 7 open judgeships, representing fully one-third of the court.

Mr. Lindy was recommended by the Montgomery Bar Association and received endorsements from some of Montgomery County and Pennsylvania's most prominent leaders and institutions, including Governor Ed Rendell, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Home Builders Association. Lindy's campaign committee was comprised of over 100 accomplished business, professional, political, and community leaders, including such notable figures as Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, former Congressman Joe Hoeffel, and PA State Representative Josh Shapiro.

Lindy won a decisive victory in the primary election, finishing in the top 20% of vote-getters out of 18 candidates. Though Lindy came just short of victory in the general election, he and his campaign team garnered exceptionally broad-based support in a tightly contested race.

Lindy had this to say on the day after the election:

“Thank you to my Campaign Team, to my volunteers, and to the close to 60,000 supporters who voted for me yesterday. I could not have waged this campaign without you. We fought hard and we fought fair, but we came up just short of victory. I am proud of all of you, and am truly humbled to have earned your trust and confidence during the course of this long campaign.”

Pennsylvania Super Lawyers has recognized Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, for outstanding performance in the area of criminal defense. Mr. Lindy was distinguished as being in the top five percent of practitioners after statewide polling of peers and independent research.
