Citizen of the Year
Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, has been named Citizen of the Year, 2006, as awarded by the civic association of Bala Cynwyd (Montgomery County, Pennsylvania) on the occasion of the association’s Centennial Anniversary, in recognition of commitment to the community and service as President of the association from 2003 to 2004.

National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women
Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, is pleased to announce that he will serving on the Board of Directors of the National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women, a nonprofit organization founded in 1987.
The National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women is a resource and advocacy center for battered women charged with crimes related to their battering. Through its work, the organization aims to increase justice for — and prevent further victimization of — arrested, convicted, or incarcerated battered women.

Pennsylvania Super Lawyers: Outstanding Performance
Pennsylvania Super Lawyers has recognized Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, for outstanding performance in the area of criminal defense. Mr. Lindy was distinguished as being in the top five percent of practitioners after statewide polling of peers and independent research.

Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors
Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, a sole practitioner, was elected Assistant Treasurer of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Board of Governors.
Mr. Lindy has been active with the Philadelphia Bar Association for many years and has served in a variety of different leadership roles, including co-chairing the Civil Rights Committee. In addition to his local bar activities, since 1996, Mr. Lindy has been an officer of the Federal Bar Association's Criminal Law Committee (Eastern District of Pa. Chapter). Additionally, Mr. Lindy is a faculty member of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and, in recent years, has been appointed as a faculty instructor in training seminars for federal court-appointed attorneys.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Selection Committee
Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, is pleased to announce his appointment by the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to interview, evaluate, and nominate Magistrate Judge candidates for consideration and selection by the District Court Bench.

Criminal Justice Act (“CJA”) Panel District Representative
Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, is pleased to announce that he has been nominated by the Chief Federal Defender for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and approved by the Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court to represent the interests of the 204 attorneys on the Panel. Mr. Lindy's responsibilities include assisting CJA Panel attorneys with substantive questions pertaining to their cases and administrative questions pertaining to obtaining funds for legal fees and experts; representing the CJA Panel at national conferences and in meetings with the District Court and Third Circuit; serving as a liaison between the CJA Panel and the Federal Defenders, the District Court, the Third Circuit, and the Office of Defender Services in Washington; and working generally toward improving the quality of indigent representation as well as the conditions under which Panel attorneys provide representation.

Defender Association of Philadelphia
Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, is pleased to announce that he will serving on the Board of Directors of the Defender Association of Philadelphia. Mr. Lindy is also the Federal Trustee for the Federal Court Division.
The Defender Association of Philadelphia is a private, non-profit corporation providing representation and related services to persons charged with crime or delinquency and to assist respondents in mental health matters.
The Child Advocacy Unit of the Defender Association represents dependent children in non-delinquency proceedings pursuant to court appointment.

Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, is pleased to announce his participation as a panelist in a course that will be offered during a two-day seminar entitled “Criminal Litigation for the Experienced.” The course will involve the discussion and analysis of state and federal motions practice.

Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, is pleased to announce that he will be a panelist at a seminar sponsored by the Professional Responsibility Committee entitled “For The Philadelphia Lawyer: An Ethical Or Moral Duty To Work For A Decrease In The Homicide Rate?” Mr. Lindy will serve on the panel alongside Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham.

Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Office of Defender Services Litigation Training Seminar (Atlanta, GA)
Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, is pleased to announce that he has been appointed as faculty instructor to participate in three-day seminar entitled, “Complex Case Litigation Strategies.” The seminar is designed to assist federal public defenders and experienced attorneys in private practice who receive appointments from the Federal Court to represent indigent defendants in criminal matters. Seminar course offerings included trial tactics, lay and expert witness examination, pretrial motion practice, developments in the law, and sentencing strategies. Mr. Lindy will teach courses pertaining to the use of forensic mental health experts.

Lindy, Esquire, is pleased to announce that he has been appointed as faculty instructor to participate in training seminar sponsored by the U.S. District Court and the Office of the Federal Public Defender, and attended by assistant federal public defenders and attorneys in private practice who receive appointments from the Federal Court to represent indigent defendants in criminal matters. Mr. Lindy will give a presentation regarding obtaining funding for and the use of experts in indigent representations. |
