Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, a member of the CJA panel and a
sole practitioner in Philadelphia, was invited by Chief Judge
Edward R. Becker to be a panelist during the Fifty-Eigth Judicial
Conference of the Third Circuit, which was held on October
18-20, 1998. This year's Judicial Conference was a judge-only
conference and Mr. Lindy participated in a panel discussion entitled
"Criminal Justice Act Panels and Fees Awards: Problems and
Solutions." The panel discussion focused on due process considerations
that arise in indigent criminal representations because of
funding issues. Chief Judge Becker moderated the panel discussion.
Serving on the panel along with Mr. Lindy were Chief Judge J. Frederick
Motz (District of Maryland), Judge Franklin S. Van Antwerpen
(E.D. Pa.), Judge Robert J. Cindrich (W.D.Pa.), Judge Maryanne
Trump Barry (D.NJ), and Theodore A. Lidz (Chief, Defender
Services, Division of the A.O.). The panelists and the judges
in attendance engaged in a candid dialogue about CJA representations,
and fee petitions submitted by attorneys for legal and expert

Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, a sole practitioner in Philadelphia,
has been elected to serve a second term as Vice-Chair of the
Criminal Law Committee of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania
Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Mr. Lindy has been
an officer of the Chapter for two years and concentrates his
practice in federal criminal defense and commercial litigation.
Mr. Lindy is a former federal prosecutor from the Philadelphia
U.S. Attorney's Office.

Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, has been invited to be a speaker
at the 7th Annual Criminal Justice Act Panel Training Seminar
which will be conducted on May 8, 1998, in Philadelphia. The
training seminar is sponsored by the United States District
Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Federal
Public Defender Office, and is designed to educate and train
trial attorneys who handle federal criminal defense matters.
Mr. Lindy's lecture topic is entitled, "CJA Practices: Pretrial
Investigation and Billing." Mr. Lindy is a sole practitioner
in Philadelphia, concentrating his practice in federal criminal
defense and commercial litigation. He is a former federal
prosecutor from the Philadelphia U.S. Attorney's Office.

Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esquire, was an organizer and will be an
introductory speaker at a Philadelphia Bar Association forum
entitled "Families, Relationships & Commitments: Health Benefits
For Domestic Partners." The forum was co-sponsored by the
Committee on the Legal Rights of Lesbians & Gay Men and the
Civil Rights Committee. Featured panelists will include Ms.
Arlene Flicker, President of the Lower Merion Teachers Union
and Ms. Kathy Gaier from Colburn Insurance Company. The forum
will focus on issues related to extending health benefits
to employees and their domestic partners. Mr. Lindy is a sole
practitioner in Philadelphia, concentrating his practice in
federal criminal defense and commercial litigation. He is
a former federal prosecutor from the Philadelphia U.S. Attorney's
Office.
